I’m in work on my break and as usual, I have been scrolling through Twitter. I came across Jenny In Neverland’s “13 Personal Questions Tag” post; read it here, after she read ItsJustMeHayley D’s post which you can read here. Both are amazing blogs which I really enjoy reading so you should definitely check them out!
I quite enjoy answering questions – I like thinking about things and discussing random questions with my friends. Often, you’ll find me asking what your three course meal would be if you were on Death Row (I’m not morbid, I promise, I just really love food). I realise that I don’t really give much away about myself on my blog, other than my experiences wit MH and the odd lifestyle post so hopefully you’ll like reading this!
1. What do you order from Starbucks?
I am possibly the most boring coffee person ever. Literally all I order is an Americano or a latte if I’m feeling adventurous. With Christmas coffee coming in soon, I will most definitely be bingeing on Toffee Nut lattes for the festive period but I find flavoured lattes so full of unnecessary calories which I prefer to save for actual food so Americanos are where it’s at for me!
2. What’s one thing in your closet that you can’t live without?
The tartan scarf from ASOS that I got for Christmas a few years ago. It is genuinely my favourite accessory ever. It just goes with everything and it’s super warm; it doubles up as a blanket when the heating in work isn’t enough!
3. What’s one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?
Hmmm, I’m literally an open book about most things, especially on my social media but one thing I don’t really tell people is that I’ve been on TV a few times! Once I was on the six o’clock news (I’ll leave you to your imaginations as to why) but the other time was far more exciting! My friend/ex-flatmate/hermano Chris (who’s blog you can find here) got tickets to the Belfast gig of the UK’s Best Part-Time Band with Rhod Gilbert and Midge Ure and knowing how much I loved Rhod and good music, asked me along. We ended up front row for the whole night and there were definitely too many less-than-flattering closeups of my face. But what a night!
4. Name one thing you want to do before you die.
Sky dive. Absolutely.
5. Name one food you can’t live without.
Pasta. Honestly I think pasta is one of my favourite foods in the entire world. It’s what I lived on at university (probs wasn’t a good idea) and I see it more of a treat food at the minute whilst I’m losing weight! There’s nothing I love more than a big bowl of pasta, preferably with some kind of chicken and a nice sauce. Heaven in a bowl, really.
6. What phrase or quote do you live by?
“It may be a cloud but you are the sky” (Matt Haig, Reasons To Stay Alive). After I got diagnosed with depression, I found this book. It was a difficult read because I resonated with everything Matt had experienced but this quote honestly blew my mind. I’m hoping to get some kind of tattoo to symbolise it if I can make my mind up and not chicken out. I think it’s really important to remember that we are more than our mental illness and that it doesn’t define us. We are bigger than it.
7. What do you like/dislike about the blogging community?
I’m fairly new to all this blogging stuff so I’m not sure I’ve come across anything I dislike but there’s so much I do like! I love that I find new blogs and people to follow every day, how each blogger has their own creative flair to add to the blogosphere. It’s a really nice community to be part of! I can’t go on without mentioning #TalkMH which is a mental health Twitter chat on Thursdays at 830pm. It was created by Hannah who blogs over at Little Thoughts and I will be eternally grateful for it! I’ve made so many amazing friends from it (some I hope to meet soon) and it’s made me feel much less alone in my struggles.
8. What’s your most listened to song on iTunes?
I use Spotify more at the moment and I’d have to say my most listened to song at the minute is ‘Friends’ (feat. Bon Iver) by Francis and the Lights. I play it all the time and as soon as I hear the opening chords I’m immediately cheered up!
9. What kind of style would you define yourself by?
I am not stylish in any way, like I have no idea what current trends are (I think bomber jackets are in judging by how many I’ve seen?) I just go for what’s comfortable and what suits my body type!
10. Favourite number?
2. Without a doubt. I used to say and do everything twice when I was a kid (in hindsight I realised this was OCD rather than a phase because I really, really struggled with odd numbers) and 2 has remained my favourite since.
11. Two hobbies?
Baking is definitely up there with favourite things to do. I take notions as to when I do it and sometimes it doesn’t always work out like I intend but I get a lot of enjoyment out of it and I find it therapeutic. I seem to be alright at making brownies! Another hobby would be piano. I used to take lessons as a kid but gave up when I was 13 because I didn’t appreciate classical music back then. Obviously I regret doing that but I love teaching myself and could spend hours playing.
12. Two pet peeves?
People chewing with their mouths open or making noise when they eat. It genuinely turns my stomach a little. Another would be people who are just really rude for no reason at all. Working in a customer service environment I experience it every day so whilst I should be used to it, it really grates on me!
13. Guilty pleasure?
Late night McDonald’s. Doesn’t happen very often but when it does, it’s a feast.
This definitely helped to pass my working day! I’m not going to tag anyone but if it’s something you think you’ll enjoy, definitely give it a go and don’t forget to tag Jenny and Hayley 🙂
